Antique Kuchi Earrings with Carnelian

An authentic example of Afghan tribal jewelry, handcrafted in the spirit of everyday wear and ritual protection. The earrings are made of approximately 800 fine silver and adorned with natural, uncut carnelian in a warm, orange-red hue. Visible soiling, patina, and lack of cleaning emphasize their age and pristine original condition.

The crescent-shaped hoop is enhanced with an openwork border composed of tiny beads and spheres. In the center is a mounted carnelian cabochon, surrounded by irregularly shaped leaflets and pendants. These pendants—in the form of drops, hearts, or simple planes—have both aesthetic and symbolic significance.

In Kuchi culture, stones like carnelian were believed to protect against negative energies and ensure balance in life. The raw style of craftsmanship wasn't a result of imprecision, but a conscious choice – the jewelry was meant to bear the marks of life, travel, and everyday life, not resemble artificially polished jewelry.

A perfect choice for lovers of ethnic handicrafts in their pristine state. Every imperfection tells a story – about the woman who wore them, about the sand and wind of the desert, about time that hasn't preserved their value.
