Afghan earrings with bells and glass

Impressive tribal earrings from Afghanistan, made of a bright, unstamped metal resembling silver. The form and decoration suggest traditional nomadic craftsmanship – such jewelry was worn on special occasions, often also attached to a turban or headdress.

The central section is decorated with red and green beads – most likely glass or paste – arranged in the shape of a floral blossom. At the base are intricately twisted spiral appliqués, culminating in numerous pendants in the form of small balls acting as bells. Their distinctive chime lent a unique rhythm to the wearer's movement.

The metal used to make the earrings was not hallmarked, as is typical for jewelry from this region. Hand-tested pieces of this type often show a silver content of around 80%, but we recommend treating them as ethnic jewelry made of base metal or of unconfirmed purity.

For lovers of oriental collections, this is an example of historical craftsmanship that evokes the atmosphere of the steppes and bazaars of Central Asia. These earrings are not lightweight – they are suitable for collecting or occasional wear.
