What to clean jewelry with?

Chemistry worth using.
Jewelry should be taken care of in the same way as we take care of clothes or shoes. To make jewelry always look new, it is enough to know a few simple rules for cleaning it. What chemistry is worth using so that jewelry does not darken and maintains a beautiful shine? Here are some tips on cleaning jewelry.

Cleaning silver jewelry

One of the most convenient ways is to buy special chemicals for jewelry, such as professional cleaning liquid. Such products make it easier to restore both the color and original appearance of jewelry. In addition, professional chemistry can delay the darkening of ornaments. Of course, jewelry cleaning liquid is used differently for gold, for example, and still differently for silver jewelry.

If you want to use the cleaning liquid to renew silver jewelry, just drop it into the chemical for a few seconds and remove it with pliers. Later, the ornament should be washed under running water and dried. This will get rid of the dark tarnish on the silver jewelry, and the ornament will be clean. Just remember that when you decide to use chemistry for jewelry, you need to thoroughly rinse and brush it after the cleaning process. Professional liquids often contain substances with additives against oxidation of silver, so it is worth systematically cleaning silver jewelry with them.

To clean silver ornaments you can also use toothpaste. All you need is a soft toothbrush and a toothpaste that will not contain microbeads (they can damage the surface of the jewelry). When you manage to remove the dark tarnish on the silver, just rinse the ornament with water and wipe it dry.

Household chemistry for gold jewelry

It is worth getting a special jewelry cleaning liquid, in which you immerse gold ornaments for about 10 minutes. After the indicated time, remove the gold jewelry, rinse it under running water and dry it. When deciding on chemical jewelry remedies, you should be aware that they are reusable products. So, buying them once, they will last for a long time.

In addition to chemical ways from the store shelf, you can also use home chemistry. In the case of gold, simply create a solution consisting of dishwashing liquid, half a teaspoon of baking soda and warm water. Gold jewelry should lie in the chemical solution for about half an hour. Then it should be cleaned gently with a toothbrush, rinsed under water and dried with a cotton cloth.

How to clean amber, pearls, rubies and jewelry with stones?

Ethnic jewelry can be cleaned in many ways. However, the same methods will not always work with each type of stone. And yes, pearls should be cleaned by putting them in milk for 24 hours (later rinsing and wiping). Amber prefers a chemical solution of ammonia, soap and water, and then rubbing with olive oil - this is also a good method for jewelry with semi-precious stones.

Sapphires, emeralds and rubies already require a different cleaning. It is enough to wipe them with spirit or rinse them in lukewarm soapy water. Corals and turquoises, on the other hand, like typically homemade, chemical ways to clean jewelry - so, baking soda water. Opal should be cleaned only with a dry brush, while diamonds and diamonds should be cleaned with warm soapy water.

Cleaning stainless steel and metal jewelry

A good way to clean ornaments depends on what metal the oriental jewelry is made of. For the maintenance of silver, as we have already mentioned, for example, toothpaste or a special chemical for jewelry will be good. Stainless steel, on the other hand, will be more effectively cleaned with ordinary dish liquid.

When washing stainless steel ornaments, you can not use any wire or other sharp sponges - unfortunately, but they could cause scratches on the jewelry. So the only ally in cleaning steel jewelry will be warm water with dish liquid. Alternatively, when the dirt will be very serious, you can use a little ammonia.

Copper jewelry - how to clean it?

For rings or earrings made of copper, a chemical mixture of vinegar and salt will be the best. It should be added to boiling water, in a ratio of 1:1. Jewelry should be left in the mixture for about 3 hours. Later, it is enough to dry the ornaments and polish them thoroughly.

What else can be done to prevent jewelry from getting damaged?

Cleaning jewelry will not have to be undertaken often, if you take proper care of its storage. Unfortunately, but poorly stored jewelry deteriorates more quickly, as it abrades its surface. So you should keep your oriental bracelets or necklaces in a place that will prevent the ornaments from getting damaged.

It is advisable to opt for a special trunk or box that is designed for storing jewelry. Each ornament should be kept in them separately so that they do not touch each other and thus do not get damaged.
